Installation Instructions

To install Office 2019 for Mac

  1. Go to Office 365 Online at http://login.microsoftonline.com.
  2. Enter your netid@msu.montana.edu.
    You will be redirected to MSU's login page.
  3. Enter your NetID@msu.montana.edu and NetID password as shown below.
  4. Click the Install Office button, then Office 365 apps. The color of the button defaults to blue however if you have selected a different theme the button may be a different color.

  5. Click the Save File button.
    The install file will begin downloading. Be patient this takes awhile. A wired connection on campus takes around 5 minutes, a wireless connection will take quite a bit longer.
    Once download is complete:
  6. Open Downloads folder and double-click on Microsoft_Office_2019_Installer.pkg.
    The Office 2016 for Mac Installer window will open.
  7. Click the Continue button.
  8. Click Continue again and then Agree to the terms of the software license.
  9. Click the Install button.
  10. Enter your computer's password and then click the Install Software button.

Office 365 Pro Plus Trial

Note for Mac users: Office 365 ProPlus allows you to install Microsoft Office 2016 only if you have OS X 10.10 or later. After installing Microsoft Office 2016, your Microsoft Office 2011 applications (if previously installed) will still exist in Applications in a folder titled Microsoft Office 2011.

  1. Using Outlook on the web (webmail.stanford.edu), click the app launcher in the upper left-hand corner and then click Office 365.
  2. Click Install Office > Office 365 apps.
    Note: Office 365 ProPlus includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. Office 365 ProPlus for Windows also includes Access, Publisher, and OneDrive for Business.
  3. A file downloads to your computer. Once the file has finished downloading, click the file and go through the installation steps.

  4. After Office 365 ProPlus has finished installing you need to sign in to Office with your Stanford Office 365 account.
